I bought this book as Mark Kermode’s film review is one of two podcasts I regularly listen to (the other is Fighting Talk). The book is basically a number of anecdotes from Mark’s time as a film critic, from his bumbling start at City Life and Time Out to working on Five Live and the Culture Show.

All in all I enjoyed the book. The story of his travels through Russia was very funny, the interview during which Werner Herzog got shot is just bizarre; and getting told off by Helen Mirren must have been a sight to see.
