Anchorman tells the story of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), a man with a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. He is the leader of the Channel 4 News, whose world is rocked when Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) joins the team. They become romantically involved, but end up enemies when Corningstone replaces Burgundy following a traffic incident.
There are some truly great lines in the film, and the whole cast put in good performances. The battle of the new teams is a particularly fine scene with some unexpected cameos. I particularly liked the Spanish language news team…
This is one of Ferrell’s better films, he can be a bit hit and miss (Semi Pro for instance); but when he’s good he’s very good and he’s on top form in Anchorman.
They’ve done studies. 60% of the time, it works every time.
