As a regular listener to Mark Kermode on a Friday on Radio 5 (or at least the podcast), I’ve heard a lot over the last couple of weeks about Broadcast News. Seeing as I’ve been placing lots of test orders at work, I thought I may as well buy it. (All the tests worked by the way
)
Broadcast News is the story of three people working in a television news studio. There is Jane Craig (Hunter), a producer; Aaron Altman (Brooks), is a gifted writer and Tom Grunick (Hurt), a telegenic anchor man.
The film follows their developing relationships and the inevitable love triangle. Craig hates that TV news is becoming style over content, Altman wants to be an anchor and Grunick is everything Craig hates.
As rom-coms go, it wasn’t too bad. The humour was ok, and funny in places. I thought it dragged on a bit, but as a whole it was pretty watchable.
